The History

The Southern Tier Imaginink Celebration of Invention and Art has been in existence for over 31 years, as part of the national Imagination Celebration program, when only  43 students in a local elementary school art class participated. During the past 31 years, we have hosted art shows and invention conventions at Binghamton City Hall, the Broome County Library, the B.C. Arena, the Binghamton University Events Center, and many public high schools. The program is open to public school and private school students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade. Now we open the Invention Convention to students in kindergarten through 8th grade, and hundreds of students participate every year. Over 20,000 students have invented solutions to their problems since the program began. These events are designed to encourage all children to think creativity and to work with their parents to build a non-working model of the invention. There is absolutely no charge for participation. All we ask is for your boundless energy and new ideas!
